New Years Eve Firework Display on the London Eye was the highlight of the Londons festivities.

Before the show

The display lasted 15 minutes from midnight and was shown on BBC television.

The Organisers

The show was commissioned by London Mayor Ken Livingstone and the GLA and produced by Jack Morton Worldwide.

The fireworks were designed and executed by the French company Groupe F.

They were supported by local South East England based company, Phoenix Fireworks.

Groupe F, lead by Christof Berthonneau, are globally known as the experts behind the recent Athens Olympic Games opening and closing ceremonies, and the Eiffel Tower for the millennium celebrations.

Phoenix Fireworks provided English pyrotechnicians, explosive transport and storage.

Facts of 2005-6 Display

The display was fired using six computers, with 3 barges in front of the London Eye, each stacked with fireworks.

A team of 30 pyrotechnicians worked from Boxing Day right up to New years eve.

The fireworks were mounted on the wheel at night by a special team of expert climbers.
